Pressed with Purpose
Sesame has healed Sri Lankan soil for over two thousand years. We're committed to farming, packaging and delivering in a way that honours it.
The Sesame Difference
A Crop That Enriches the Soil
Sesame is one of nature's most resilient gifts. Unlike water-hungry crops, sesame thrives in Sri Lanka's dry zone with minimal irrigation β and actively restores nitrogen to depleted soils through its root system.
Our farmers rotate sesame with other crops, using it as a soil-repair plant. Minimal irrigation. No synthetic pesticides. Naturally compost-fed. The sesame plant takes care of the soil β and of us.
βSesame is not just our raw material. It is our partner β healing soil, feeding families and preserving a way of life.β
β Phoenix Lanka Sustainability CharterOur Commitments
Six Pledges We Keep
All Phoenix Lanka packaging uses kraft paper, glass bottles and recycled cardboard. We eliminated single-use plastics in 2020 and have not looked back.
Our partner farmers earn 35% above the regional sesame price. We believe that if a product is not fair to the people who grow it, it cannot truly be called good.
For every 100 orders placed, we fund the training of one new sesame farmer in organic cultivation β investing in the next generation of the harvest.
A portion of every sale funds school nutrition programmes using our sesame products in rural schools across the Kirindiwela district.
We consolidate deliveries, use electric vehicles for Colombo routes, and offset the carbon cost of all shipments through a verified mangrove reforestation fund.
Every Phoenix Lanka product carries a full ingredient list and provenance note. You will always know exactly what you are eating and where it came from.
